Another first!

Posted in Uncategorized on September 15, 2008 by Jennifer

A friend of mine has a husband who is a fabulous photographer and he invited me over to “workshop” their 9 week old baby C.  This was my first time with studio lighting and it was harder than I expected!  I’m used to trying to capture a moment quickly, not try to create a moment and capture it as naturally as possible. S was very patient with teaching me about lighting set ups and I now have a list of equipment I want to buy.

Baby C was just perfect. He slept for most of the shoot, except when he was needed for some family shots. He was still bendy and squishy like a newborn – which is lucky because they get harder to photograph as they move more! He was so snuggly and he smelled so good! Thank you N, S and C for a wonderful afternoon!

Energetic Siblings!

This was my second stranger session and it was just as much fun as my first! These two were so energetic. I think I got one picture of them actually sitting – the rest was all action! I didn’t mind, that is my favorite way to photograph children. They were curious, energetic and just such a joy to be around (and gorgeous to boot). Thank you E and R for a great time!

My first “stranger” session

Sweet L was my first stranger session – I had never met her or her family before (they were referred to me by a friend). I am so thankful that it went well! She is an energetic and adorable little girl who was a dream to photograph.

I Love Boston

Posted in Uncategorized on August 25, 2008 by Jennifer

I was lucky enough to get to go to Boston on a conference at the beginning of the month. I decided that I would focus on night photography while there as I would be busy during the day. Below are a few of my favorite evening/night shots. I chased the sun around the city and came across many interesting photography opportunities.

I was also lucky enought to get to meet up with my the Vs – a family I met while volunteering in Peru. I love spending time with them and it is never dull! This year they took me to a Red Sox game at Fenway – it was a great experience and a ton of fun to shoot.

The MOST fun

This was my first teen shoot. I know 2 of the girls and they each brought a friend along for the fun. I was a little nervous but that quickly went away once we started. These girls were SO much fun and so patient. They were game for anything and had a ton of ideas themselves. PLUS they showed up with 4 different outfits that all coordinated with each other! There will definitly be a part two to this (we’re scouting urban locations!)

Thank you E, S, M and B for the fun evening – I’ll be in touch for our next session soon!

E, the guini pig

This was my second visit (and I am planning many more!) to E. The purpose of this visit was to experiment with some different types of newborn photography without expecting anything spectacular. This one DID come out the way I had hoped – it is my favorite from the session (I have not used black backgrounds before). It’s a classic pose that many photographers use – but I really like it!

A quick session with little F

My friend Kim came over with her little one and we had a quick 10 minute session before we had lunch. She is such a sweet little chunky doll! She’s only 6 weeks and she’s already smiling – for real! (I think it helps that she has a mom that is always smiling). Here are a few of my favorites:

As I don’t have any friend sessions for another couple of weeks, I thought I’d share some of A that I did this week.

Welcome to my photography blog!

Welcome!

I thought that it would be fitting to start this blog with something “new”.

This is baby E – he is the first (and currently only!) newborn that I “officially” shot. I’ve taken pictures of friend’s babies before but this was my first come prepared, take all the time you need, you-have-no-excuses-if-you-mess-up newborn shoot. I learned a lot from this session but I am pretty happy with the outcome! Thankfully he was a sweet, snuggly little guy who let me fold and squish him as required.
